Award-winning Ghanaian actress Pascaline Edwards has argued that young people in the film industry should complement their acting with other side professions because performing does not pay.
She claims that any of her coworkers who assert that they have made a sizable sum of money by simply performing are lying.
The actress remarked that the film industry would not be able to give someone the money they need to start a business or build a house on Onua FM’s “Adwuma Adwuma” with Felicia Osei.
Everyone in the business who claims to have amassed wealth from producing films is lying, she claimed.
Pascaline Edwards also remarked that acting was a career that was motivated by passion and could make you famous.
“The film business raises you to a certain level. You are given a brand. Although brand ambassadorial arrangements and endorsements can be profitable, she noted that the cash from the movies and the set was insufficient.
She also cautioned young people and aspiring actors to diversify their income streams and avoid depending just on movie profits.
Because acting is a hand-to-mouth business, she advised, “if you have to sell groundnuts and maize as your main day job, do that and add the acting as your side hustle.”
In 2002, Pascaline Edwards, who is known as an iconic actress who portrayed various diva roles throughout her career, was voted Ghana’s Best Female Actress.
