The New Trust Newspaper has gathered that, all is not well with Asante -Mampong branch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the constituency chairman Mr.Luther Asare is alleged to have vowed to disqualify the former NPP flagbearer aspirant and former Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon.Francis Addai-Nimoh should he put himself up for the party’s primaries in an attempt to protect the incumbent MP.

The moved, this paper learnt has incurred the wrath of the party supporters especially when the party needs united and all hands on deck to retain power in 2020 general elections.

The recent letter written by Mr.Luther Asare who said to be working for the incumbent MP to the former MP, which has been intercepted by this paper seems to have confirmed the anger of the admirers of the former MP about the hidden agenda of the consistency chairman and some executives to adopt divide and rule tactics and arrogate power into themselves ahead of yet to be announced NPP Parliamentary primaries.

The letter dated 9th June,2019 with no reference number addressed to Hon.Francis Addai-Nimoh,Mampong Ashanti was entitled “,RE:FINAL CAUTION LETTER”.

The one page letter signed by Mr.Luther Asare, Mampong constituency chairman of yours reads,”We have observed that over the last couple of months from last year 2018 and into 2019 you have been making subtle campaigning activities in the constituency even though the ban on such activities especially in connection with parliamentary primaries has not been lifted.

The behavior and activities affront the party rules and regulations.

In 2018 we gave you a written caution for similar activities and breaches of the rules. It appears you have disregarded our authority and blatantly continued disrespecting the Constituency executivesand the rules and regulations of the party.

We are now in possession of recordings of your canvassing and campaign activities. This letter is the final caution letter we are sending, advising you to put a stop forthwith to your campaign activities till the ban is lifted by the National Executive. It is our sincere hope that, this time around, you will respect the rules and regulations of the party you dream of leading. He who wants to lead must be prepared to be led and respect the rules and regulations of the group he wants to lead.Remember nobody is bigger than the party. I hope you will not give us the opportunity to write to you again on this matter”.

Meanwhile, this paper has managed to intercept a two- page reply by Hon.Francis Addai-Nimoh dated 19th June,2019 to the Constituency chairman.

The respond of former MP for Asante-Mampong entitled’ RE: FINAL CAUTION LETTER” also reads,”This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 9th June,2019 on the above subject matter. It is noted from the content that emotion, sensationalism and show of power characterized the thought in conveying the said letter to me.I would like to state that,I have never received any written caution from you and therefore consider your issuance of a final caution Letter to me as surprising, misplaced, unfortunate and needless. In response to your letter, let me refer to some paragraphs contained therein:”We have observed that over the last couple of months from last year 2018 and into 2019 you have been making subtle campaigning activities in the constituency even though the ban on such activities especially in connection with parliamentary primaries has not been lifted.

The behavior and activities affront the party rules and regulations.May I ask,What constitute campaign activities either subtle or open?If there is an approved outline or list of activities detailed by your good self in this regard, then that could serve as the guidance for all party members in the constituency to comply. But you have not provided any such list of activities that affront the party rules and regulations.I am a native of Mampong land with brad family relations and ties which extend to the Mampong Traditional Authority.Again,I have served the constituency for eight years as the Member of Parliament and in the process I have developed very fruitful relationship with so many of the constituents.I do not think that per your assertion above, you seek to direct me to cease or truncate all ties with family members, friends, admirers and sympathizers, and consequently expel me from entering the constituency until the ban on parliamentary primaries campaign is lifted.I therefore reject your assertion that my behavior and activities affront the party rules and regulations.Another paragraph states;“It appears you have disregarded our authority and blatantly continued disrespecting the Constituency executives and the rules and regulations of the party.Clearly, this is a display of show of force or where power lies attitude.I am a law abiding person.I uphold and promote the constitution and image of our great party at all times and everywhere.Never in my life as a member of this party have I disobeyed or disrespected the governance structure of our party at any level.I do accord the highest respect to basic unit of the party structure, polling station executives, and the rest.I think that there should not be any deliberate step by you to malign or brand me as a disrespectful member of the party. My track record provides a testimony about who I am.Thirdly, you stated:”We are now in possession of recordings of your canvassing and campaign activities.I find this modus operadi of yours to and under –cover policing of a member’s activities both in private or public by executives at any level of the party’s structure.I find this approach to be a demonstration of bad faith that should not exist amongst party members.Well,it will be appropriate to produce such recordings for scrutiny. We are admonished by the party’s motto;” Development in Freedom”to be responsible in the exercise of our freedom whilst pursuing development.

This motto provides a framework for the organization of the party. You further stated; “Remember nobody is bigger than the party”. I consider this as a display of sensationalism on your part.

May I ask.Who is the Party?Perhaps,an acceptable definition of who is the party could help us all in this discourse.et me mention that I am a human being just like any other person created in the image of God,according to the Holy Scriptures .I have never claimed to be a superior human being to others.Neither have I asserted to be bigger than any other person.

It is only a privilege to have an opportunity to provide leadership to people. And that opportunity cannot render anyone to be bigger or superior to the group that he/she leads or intends to lead.I would like to point out that this letter from you confirms information that has come to me since last year,2018.You are reported to have remarked in the presence of Mr.Bernard Antwi Boasiako,Ashanti regional Chairman of our party and other constituency chairmen,at a funeral at Nsuta, that you would disqualify me if I put forward my nomination to contest the parliamentary primaries in the Mampong constituency.

The Regional Chairman is said to have disagreed with you, because in his view, there cannot be any justification if you take such an action.I would suggest to you that you should be guided by the Spirit and letter of the party’s constitution.

In concluding, I would urge you to use your position to promote love, unity, and all virtues that will co-exist among members of the party in the constituency as we move towards the 2020 general elections.
