Following a protracted judicial proceeding that started in 2021 when Kwayisi was committed to stand trial, he was sentenced. The Attorney General suggested that he be charged with Prof. Benneh’s murder. In relation to the crime, three individuals were detained, including Kwayisi.

In October 2020, James Womba, the key suspect, passed away while being held by the police. Opambour Agya Badu Nkansah, the third suspect, was freed after the Attorney General’s counsel proved his innocence.
