ANY MAFIA PLOT AND TACTICS TO VET CERTAIN ASPIRANTS OUT MIGHT LEAD TO VOTER APATHY IN 2020 – CONCERN MEMBERS OF DANQUAH INSTITUTE WARNS

PRESS RELEASE

23RD MAY, 2018.

ANY MAFIA PLOT AND TACTICS TO VET CERTAIN ASPIRANTS OUT MIGHT LEAD TO VOTER APATHY IN 2020 – CONCERN MEMBERS OF DANQUAH INSTITUTE WARNS.

The entire National Executives and members of the Concerned Members of Danquah Institute is calling on the Vetting Committee as a matter of urgency to avoid vetting any candidate out from the National Delegates Conference that will be held in Koforidua in the Eastern Region to elect leaders for the NPP.

This call is as a result of an intelligence that we gathered, when we went to the grounds to investigate on whom the choice of the delegates is, as far as the various positions are concerned. In addition, to our results was a grand scheme of deliberately vetting some candidates out was realised.

This grand scheme and diabolic agenda is contrary to the ideas and philosophies of Dr. Danquah that preaches much about Democracy, equal rights and Freedom to all devoid of their background. In addition to the above, this is a smear on our party’s image especially at a time like this that we in the NPP tout ourselves to be the custodians in our modern day democracy in Ghana.

We also believe that before democracy will be viable it must be tested. Testing it in the sense that it must be subjected to competition for every single person to have a feel of it and at the end of the day the best comes out since competition brings out the best.

Therefore we make a passionate appeal to the vetting committee to let each and every aspirant sail through the vetting process provided the person(s) holds a criminal record. Any rough tactics to eliminate candidates through vetting process can lead to a form of apathy in the party ahead of 2020.

Again , it has been statistically proven that anytime a party is in power it doesn’t enjoy floating voters vote so is very important for us as party to maintain our core members first.

To draw the curtains down we also call on the board of directors of DI(Danquah Institute) to review the appointment and performance of Dr Kingsley Nyarko the CEO of DI.

Thank you.
