Stop The Spin, Dr. Bawumia Was Showing Respect To His Former Boss At BoG

Some political detractors bent on doing everything possible to impugn the integrity and credibility of Former Finance Minister Dr Kwabena Duffuor have been criticized for spinning on affection- looking picture of Vice President Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr.Kwabena Duffuor during the funeral of the late member if Parliament for Kumawu, Philip Basoah.

According to a concerned member of NDC who wrote under anonymity, this agenda has fallen flat explaining that, it was during the tenure of Dr.Kwabena Duffuor as Governor of the Bank of Ghana in 2000 that Dr.Mahamudu Bawamia was employed at the Central Bank therefore meeting Dr.Duffuor was a nostalgic feeling and show of respect to Dr.Duffuor hence the affection.

He said it has nothing to do with political loyalty with NPP.

He attached video of Former President Mahama similarly hugging Dr.Bawumia during a festival in the north ,and asked why that was not spun as such.

Below is the full statement by the concerned NDC Member.

I have seen as usual some diabolic elements putting a spin on a picture of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr.Kwabena Duffuor during the funeral of the late MP for Kumawu Hon. Philip Basoah over the weekend.

Dr. Bawumia was only showing respect to Dr.Duffuor his former boss.

For those of you who don’t know, it is during Dr.Duffuor’s tenure as Governor of the Central Bank that Dr. Bawumia who was not a known member of the NPP was employed at the Central Bank in the year 2000.
Not many also know or remember that Dr. Bawumia is the son of the late Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, who served as Chairman of the Council of State under President Jerry John Rawlings and the NDC.

History tells us that, between 1996 and 2000, Dr.Bawumia served as an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, USA but returned to Ghana in 2000 to work as an economist at the Bank of Ghana when Dr. Kwabena Duffuor was governor of the central Bank. In fact, it has been revealed that

Dr. Bawumia rose from Senior Economist to Head of Department, and subsequently as Special Assistant to the Governor of the Bank before former President Kuffuor appointed him as Deputy governor in 2006.

His affection- looking picture with Dr. Duffuor was nostalgic and a show of respect to Dr. Duffuor, though hypocritical in my view after participating in the scheming and collapsing of his banks.

Mr. Mahama and Dr. Bawumia have had similar affection at a recent festival but that was not spun because it does not suit the agenda of Dr. Duffuor’s avowed detractors.

The laughable but persistent agenda of some elements to brand Dr.Duffuor as an NPP sponsored mole is dirty, infantile, ridiculous, and must stop.

Dr. Duffuor has suffered persecution in the hands of the NPP, who targeted his businesses and collapsed same.

Dr. Duffuor’s long standing consistency in support for the NDC and his drive for the reorganization and grassroots empowerment agenda must be a source of encouragement and pride for every NDC member and even non members who wish the NDC and Ghana well.

Let’s be careful and wise, lest we fall for vile propaganda at our own peril.

A Concerned NDC member.
