Npp Northern regional chairman donate tractors to chiefs

The Northern regional Chairman for the ruling new patriotic party (Npp), Alhaji Mohammed Samba has donated tractors to Chief’s.

Some of the paramount chiefs who benefit from the gesture include, the regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Naa Abdullah Yakubu, the overlord of the Gonja traditional area, the overlord of the Mamprugu traditional area and Chief Bolin-lana Mahamadu Abdulai.

The tractors were presented at their respective palaces by Chairman Mohammed Samba together with the Northern regional minister, Alhaji Salifu Saeed.

The regional chairman in his address said the gesture is to motivate the traditional rulers to take full advantage of the planting for food and jobs initiative.

He hinted that his outfit is committed to help government soften the burden of farmers in the country, so that the agriculture sector will become attractive to the citizenry.

Chairman Mohammed Samba urged the Chiefs to find a proactive measures, and offer free service to the underprivileged farmers at their respective areas.

According to him through the planting for food and jobs policy, many farmers will be financial independent.

He said similar gesture including fertilizer will be given to identify groups to take farming activities serious.

He further appealed to the chiefs to continue praying for the new patriotic party government.

The Northern regional minister, Alhaji Salifu Saeed on his part explained that the planting for food and jobs programme is a five year policy which is geared towards increasing food productivity and ensure food security for the country, and as well reduce food import bills to the barest minimum.

He added that the programme is an avenue to modernize agriculture and make it a source of employment for the teaming youth.
