KWASI NYANTAKYI RECEIVES A LIFE BAN FORM FIFA

 

FIFA has issued a life ban and a fine of CHF 500,000 to the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi foiling him from all football-related activities at both National and International level.

The former GFA president was found guilty of “having violated FIFA art.19 (conflicts of interest), art.21 (Bribery and Corruption) and art.22 (Commission) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, 2012 edition.”

Mr Nyantakyi was captured in Anas Aremeyaw Anas an investigative journalist’s investigate video title number 12 in which he was transacting business with the investigative journalist, in which he demanded monies in excess of $11 million allegedly to settle some top Ghanaian politicians including the president, vice-president and some ministers.

He was the president of the Ghana Football Association from 30 December 2015 to 7 June 2018. He officially resigned four hours after FIFA issued a statement announcing his ban form football related activities for a period of 90 days with pending investigation.

Under his presidency, Ghana qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup for the first time, qualified for 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In 2009 the Ghana U-20 team won Africa’s first and only under U-20 World Cup.
