Akufo-Addo tells appointees not to call him “His Excellency”

President Nana Akufo-Addo is said to have warned his appointees, including Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumua to immediately stop referring to him as “His Excellency”.

Bawumia made the revelation at a public event in Accra.
“It’s an honour to represent His Excellency… He [Nana Addo] said we should not call him His Excellency anymore,” Bawumia told the audience at the African Diaspora Homecoming Conference on Tuesday.
“His Excellency” is normally used to precede the name of the president and vice-president as a sign of respect for their high offices.
But Akufo-Addo, according to a report by the Daily Guide, does not like the expression and simply wants to be referred to as “Mr President”.
Akufo-Addo won the 2016 election with over 53 per cent of the polls.
He has pledged to transform the economy and create thousands jobs for Ghanaians.
He has pledged to introduce free SHS and create a factory in each district of the country.
The president has also promised to create a dam in each village to boost agriculture.
