I didn’t conspire to lie against Boakye Agyarko

The member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa denied conspiring with other to invent corruption claims against Boakye Agarko, the energy minister.

Ablakwa said he would never conspired with anyone to bear false witness against any nominee to equalize corruption claims.
His comment comes after the chairman of the appointments committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu told the Joe Ghartey-led committee investigating the Agyarko corruption claim that Ablakwa told him that the bribery accusation was intended to equalise corruption claims made by Agyarko against former President John Mahama. But at his own appearance before the committee on Monday, Ablakwa denied saying that.
“I would not go into a conspiracy to bear false witness against a nominee as suggested by Chairman of the Appointment Committee of Parliament Joe Osei-Owusu when he appeared before Parliament with regards to bribery allegations,” he stated.
He added that Osei-Owusu had contradicted himself by first associating Mahaya Ayariga with the equalization claim.
Ablakwa defended his claim that he indeed received GHC3,000 from Muntaka Mubarak, which he learnt had been made available by Boakye Agyarko.
