Yahya Jammeh finally surrenders, accepts to leave Gambia

The former president of The Gambia, has finally surrendered to the new President Adama Barrow after a stretch period of tension in the country.

The new development in the story comes after another round of mediation between Jammeh and some African leaders.
Yahya Jammeh shocked the world after he earlier announced that he would not leave the position of presidency in spite of the fact that he lost the presidential election to Adama Barrow.
The current president of the country was sworn in exile at a Gambian embassy in neighbouring country, Senegal.
Military troops from the Economic Community Of West African State had stationed in Senegal awaiting order to force Jammeh out of office but reports indicate he has decided to leave today, Friday, January 20 and is already preparing a statement.

To avoid persecution, Yahya Jammeh is also expected to move to Conakry after leaving Gambia.
