In a video tape that was leaked, Bugri Naabu, the former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), acknowledged working for the Ghana Police Service.
He claims that in order to encourage him to work more, the law enforcement organization pays him because he acts as an informant.
In the video that has been circulating online, an unnamed person said that Naabu was employed by Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police.
Chairman… ” You informed us that you were not receiving anything from Dampare, but after our inquiry, we discovered that Dampare is paying you. He is paying you 10,000 Ghana Cedis,” the man said to Naabu.
Then, in an effort to clear the air, he disputed the charge and said that, rather than the IGP, it is the Ghana Police Service that pays him.
“Don’t tell me he pays me 10,000 Ghana Cedis; he doesn’t pay me; the police do…” I don’t know; the police pay me GH 10,000 for the security work I perform in my capacity as paramount chief, and they tell me that when there is a problem, I report it to them, Naabu added.
