The heat of the chase for the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party(NPP) Chairman position is on and the two contestants are hell bent on outwitting the other to win the position.
The challenger, Chairman Asare-Bediako, who is currently the Chairman of the party at the Asokwa Constituency, is giving the incumbent, Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, a good run for his money.
Various and varying strategies and tactics are in play as the contest gets tighter and tighter. This fierce battle between the two has stolen the attention and attraction from the other contests with people from other regions and the diaspora showing keen interest in the race since the region is the stronghold and heart of the party.
The incumbent Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi, is clearly not ready to throw in the towel in the face of the calls for change from a good number of the rank and file of the party in the region. He is exhibiting the spirit of resilience by throwing in as many resources as he can into the contest just to turn the fortunes around.
As part of efforts to secure his seat and position as the Regional Chairman, he has invited all contestants of the constituency elections to his private residence at Daaban, near the View, for an emergency meeting tomorrow Friday 23rd February, 2018 at 8am. Information we gather from reliable sources indicate that he would be giving all the contestants some support in the form of funds to support their operations as they go into elections this weekend.
The Regional Elections come off next month and the stakes are obviously high. The stronghold, as always, would be the centre of attraction.
