My wife took grapefruit drink not akpeteshie – Owusu Bempah defends wife

Contrary to reports that his wife, Abena Animah, drinks akpeteshie, the founder, and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah has said the wife does not take alcohol.

According to Rev. Owusu Bempah, his wife has never tasted anything alcoholic not to talk akpeteshie because she hates.

“My wife doesn’t drink alcohol; in fact, she hates it and has never tasted it before. I decided not to pay attention to this false report because it’s unnecessary. On that fateful day, my wife neither drank nor ate anything alcoholic.

“The ceremony was supposed to come off in the morning but because of some issues, it had to happen in the afternoon and because we had it in the afternoon, I told my wife to eat something before but she declined and said she would prefer a soft drink and so the drink she took that day was grape fruit drink and after she tasted it she asked for more because it was sweet and that is why people around her were surprised and not because she drank alcohol”, Rev. Owusu Bempah said.

Following their marriage ceremony last week, a video of Abena Animah allegedly taking shots of akpeteshie before the ceremony surfaced on social media.

In the very short video, the bride-to-be is seen asking another lady to pour her a drink stored in a container.

The lady poured what has been described by reports as akpeteshie and asked the man of God’s wife if it was okay.

Abena Animah was heard responding, “No, add some more” leading the women around her to shout in amazement.

But speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM, Rev. Owusu Bempah blamed detractors who are trying hard to tarnish his hard-earned reputation for the report.

According to him, he cannot allow his wife to drink alcohol in the midst of men of God the same way he will not condone such bad conduct in his church.

“I know some people are behind that act, claiming that my wife drinks alcohol. They only want to tarnish my image by reporting falsely. I won’t allow that in my church, so can my wife drink alcohol in the midst of men of God? Never?”, he retorted.

He pointed out that his wife has not been affected by the alcohol reports because she was confident that it was false.
