SUSPECT ALLEGEDLY BUTCHERED TO DEATH BY DIVISIONAL POLICE PATROL TEAM- ASANTE AKIM

Kofi Ampomah,33yrs,affectionately known as Barluso,a native of Adomfe,Asante Akim South,met his untimely death on Wednesday,16th October,2019.This was as a result of the routine Police patrol duties carried out by the Asante Akim Divisional Police Patrol Team.

According to eye witnesses,the deceased was picked up as a suspect in an operation carried out by the patrol team last Tuesday night.He was allegedly malhandled,beaten among others which resulted to his death the following morning.

As monitored by Virgin City Radio’s reporter,DJ Yaw ‘B’ Jnr.,the Police operation was to clump down some drug paddlers in the Adomfe vicinity.Two persons including the suspect were arrested.

C/Supt Shibu Abubakar Osei,Asante Akim Divisional Police Commander has confirmed the death of the suspect but was quick to add that it was not caused by his men.According to him,the town folks started stoning the patrol team and through that the suspect was seriously injured by a stone.He then bleeded profusely,of which he was sent to Konongo-Odumase Government Hospital but could not survive.

It took the intervention of the Chief of Adomfe,Nana Adomfe Agyei among other elders of the town to calm the youth down to prevent reprisal action.
Hon.Alexander Frimpong,MCE for Asante Akim South and his entourage visited the Adomfe town and the family to sympathize with them for the lost.

Virgin City Radio can confirm that as at the time of filing this report,there was an emergency joint security meeting ongoing at the Juaso Municipal Assembly.Hon. Alexander Frimpong and Hon Kwaku Asante Boateng have vehemently vow to carry out a full scale investigation into this and make sure that whoever acted unprofessionally in this case shall be brought to book.
