3 pro-Alan MPs have withdrawn their support for his independent presidential ambition.

On the other hand, Sylvester Tetteh disclosed that he had only supported Alan Kyerematen if he was a member of the NPP, and that since Kyerematen has chosen an independent path, he has switched his support to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in his presidential campaign.

In an interview with Asempa FM on September 25,2023, Sylvester Tetteh explained his reasoning for this choice, saying, “I was supporting Alan Kyerematen to become the flagbearer of our party so that everyone within the party would support him to become the president because I cannot singlehandedly make Alan Kyerematen president.”

“As I speak to you, I have a choice as to who should lead our party,” he said. As a result of that decision, I now have a duty to support him in his efforts to lead our party and eventually win the presidency. I am not familiar with any other candidates, Sylvester, and since I work for the NPP, I will always identify as a member of their party.Alan Kyerematen is a Ghanaian, and up until his declaration, he was a part of our party. I respect him, but because his and my goals are at odds, we can’t work together because we are on different pages.
