Apple is trying to resolve a glitch in the most recent version of the iOS operating system that causes some users to see the Palestinian flag emoji when they search for the phrase “Jerusalem” on the emoji keyboard.
The business informed CNN that it is aware of a flaw in the keyboard’s predictive emoji feature and is working on a fix that will be included in the upcoming iOS release.
Although Apple’s most recent software, iOS 17.4.1, was released on March 21, some consumers expressed their displeasure on social media after the flaw was recently found.
An iPhone user questioned whether Apple was aware of the issue and whether it was deliberate in a post on X that was watched more than 2.3 million times. According to Apple, the problem was an error that wasn’t purposefully incorporated into the keyboard.
However, the user—who identified herself as Jewish—provided a lengthy list of additional places that show up in the emoji search form without a flag.
It’s likely that by examining texts from millions of users, Apple’s machine learning engine selected the recommended emoji. Apple remained silent on the reason.

Therefore, adding the Palestinian flag emoji to the search query “Jerusalem” is aggravating an already existing issue, especially at a time when Israel and Hamas are at war.
