“Nima More Developed And Civilized Than Kyebi” – NDC MP Replies Minister

MP-Naser Mahama Toure addressing the Media
Member of Parliament for East Ayawaso Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Mahama Toure has responded to the Work and Housing Minister’s comment that Nima would be having flushing toilet for the first time.

According to the MP, if the Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South in the Eastern Region has taken his time to measure the two areas he would realize that Nima has gone far ahead of his ancestral home known as Kyebi who are still defecating in the bush.

Addressing the press at the Ayawaso East Municipal capital, Nima, the MP described the Minister’s comment as unsavory that needs to be condemned by well meaning Ghanaians.

One could remember that on Wednesday 27 of Febuary, 2019, the Minister for works and housing hon. Samuel Atta Akyea made a comment on the floor of parliament that residents in Nima for the first time in their lives would have access to flushing toilet facilities, as part of government’s agenda to give a facelift to the slum.

‘’ Mr. Speaker, there’s a slum upgrading which is about happening, that’s the Nima area. We wouldn’t want to pay lip service to the fact that we have some Ghanaians who are living in slum’’.

‘’We are going to begin with, Nima and give Nima a facelift and for the first time we will see the good people of Nima having flushing toilets like anybody will do in East Legon’’, said the Minister.

But the MP of the area, Hon. Mahama Toure took no exception of the Ministers comments and called on the members of the society to condemned such an unguided statement from the Minister of state.

Hon. Naser Toure reminded the Minister that despite the challenges, Nima host most prominent institutions in the country including the seat of government and the residence of the President of the Republic of Ghana.
