MADRID SAYS GOODBYE TO JULEN LOPETEGUI AFTER HEAVY  EL CLASICO DEFEAT

The board of directors for Real Madrid C.F have officially announce the termination of JulenLopetegui’s contract as the clubs head coach after losing 5-1 to their rival Barcelona on Sunday’s El Clasico.

The club on Monday night officially announced JulenLopetegui’s dismissal and the temporal appointment of Santiago Solari as their coach from Tuesday.

This is the former Porto’s boss second sacking in the space of four months – the Spanish football federation sacked him as their head coach just two days before their opening World Cup game for negotiating with Real Madrid behind their back.

During Lopetegui short tenure, Madrid have played 14 matches which they have won 6, drawn 2, lost 6,scored 21 goals and conceded 20 goals. The club fell to ninth position in la liga with 14 points after El Clasico humiliation.

Lopetegui arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer after Zinedine Zidane stepped down with a record of three consecutive Champions League titles.

Along with acting coach Solari, former Chelsea manager Antonio conte is understood to be a candidate for the role.
