All volunteer groups affiliated to NPP to be registered – Awuku
The National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammi Awuku has revealed that all volunteer groups affiliated to the party will soon be registered.
According to him, as it stands now it is difficult for the party hierarchy to crack the whip on any erring member of these volunteer group when the person is not a registered NPP member.
Sammi Awuku has also been meeting with the various Vigilante Groups affiliated to the NPP in efforts to whip them in line per the President’s call to the NPP and NDC.
He has so far met with Invisible, the Rock and Kandahar Groups within the Regions and achieved the success the Party wanted.
Speaking to host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM was confident that after the registration exercise the over 1000 volunteer groups affiliated to the NPP will have their activities properly regulated.
“I’m going to send a proposal to the Steering Committee and National Executive Committee of our party which will allow us to register every group associated with the NPP. Once that volunteer group affiliated to us is registered, then the rules and regulations governing the conduct of volunteer groups will be outlined to the group.”
Awuku added: “We have over 1000 volunteer groups said to be affiliated to the NPP but because of lack of proper data, we don’t know who is behind what. We need to know the objective for forming each group, and those behind it before I can vouch for that particular group as the National Organizer of the NPP. As it stands now, it is very difficult to support the volunteer groups with their programmes. I don’t want to leave anything to chance
