Starting on Friday, September 15, 2023, the Volta River Authority (VRA) will start a controlled release at the Akosombo and Kpong Dams.
This choice was made as a result of the lake level continuously rising due to significant inflows, as mentioned by Deputy Chief Executive, E&O, Ing. Edward Obeng Kenzo.
Additionally, VRA has implemented this controlled spillage as a preventive precaution in order to limit any negative effects because it is well aware that the widespread, heavy rainfall is causing flooding and raised water levels in several localities.
The public is reassured that they will continuously evaluate the situation and provide updates as necessary.
