Last year, United made $2.6 billion (£2 billion) in revenue and flew a record 165 million passengers. The business depends on there being a high demand for travel.

A plane that lost a tire after takeoff was among the other mishaps, according to Mr. Kirby, although they were all “unrelated.”

However, it coincides with heightened awareness of both major and minor aviation mishaps.

One of the two main jet manufacturers in the world, Boeing, raised concerns about the quality of their aircraft after an emergency exit door on a fairly new aircraft broke off in midair in January. That was while flying with Alaska Airlines.

As is normal, the Federal Aviation Administration stated that it was looking into the United incident with the missing panel, which happened on a jet that was 25 years old.

After landing, its absence was noticed, and images went viral on social media.

The other aircraft safely made an emergency landing, and United ascribed the fire to an “engine issue.”

Numerous more occurrences are being examined by the FAA as well.

US official statistics show that deaths and accidents on US commercial aircraft are still incredibly infrequent.
