The Tema-Mpakadan Railway Line imports and operates trains from Poland.
This will be utilized on the new standard-gauge railway line between Tema and Mapazdan, and it is a momentous occasion for Ghana’s transportation industry.
The Tema-Mpakadan railway line, a 97-kilometer standard-gauge train, will make it easier for people and products to travel across Ghana’s eastern corridor. It is a component of a bigger scheme to build a 1000-kilometer interconnectivity project between Ghana and Burkina Faso that would link Ouagadougou with the Port of Tema.
With an anticipated completion date of 2024, the railway line’s development is virtually complete.
Passengers will be transported by train from Mpakadan to the Tema Port via Kpong, Juapong, and Doryumu. Passengers can then change to a narrow-gauge train to travel into the center of Accra from that point on.
Yaw Owusu, the CEO of the Ghana Railways Growth Authority, stressed the need for a dynamic and effective railway network for industrialization and growth during the handover ceremony in Poland.
