The VRA would like to announce that, since 1972, it has been providing electricity to neighboring nations while upholding its obligation to provide Ghana with dependable and reasonably priced power, and it still does so.
It is also crucial to note that the Electricity Market Oversight Panel (EMOP), not the VRA, is in charge of overseeing the distribution of the power produced by the hydroelectric plants at Akosombo and Kpong.
According to government rules, the allocation always gives preference to the Ghanaian market, ensuring the long-term optimization of the country’s hydroelectric resources.
It is noteworthy that VRA offers ECG power at the lowest cost—2.5 cents per kilowatt—in contrast to IPPs, who charge ECG an average of 10 cents per kilowatt for their power.
In a statement, the VRA guaranteed that the EMOP oversees the company’s implementation of power distribution and that it is fully committed to Ghana.
