Jacob Osei Yaboah,Kofi Akpaloo,Hon.Dr.Nana Ayew Afriye and Francis Owusu-Akyaw clashes at PASAG-NATIONAL week celebration

 

 

The physician Assistant students association of Ghana (PASAG-NATIONAL) on Friday 28th February 2020 held the opening ceremony of its annual week celebration themed Attaining SDG 3:The Role of The Physician Assistant Trainee.
In attendance was Hon.Dr.Nana Ayew Afriye-MP for Effiduase Asokore and the deputy chairman of the parliamentary select committee on health,Mr.Jacob Osei-Independent presidential Aspirant, Mr.Kofi Akpaloo-2012 and 2016 presidential aspirant for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG),Prof.Adu Kumi(Dean of PUCG),DCEs,President of GRAPAG and the General secretary of GPAA and other organizational leaders.

Speaking at the opening ceremony,
the national president of the physician assistants students association of Ghana(PASAG-NATIONAL) H.E.Ernest K.Agyare,expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the ministry of health for enrolling private and public trained licensed PAs from 2012 to 2018 unto the employment scheme. The president indicated that unemployment was one of the major challenges facing graduates of the profession.The President acknowledged the hardwork of the HR director of MoH for his exceptional instrumental roles played to help clear the group and to also help CoHK attain accreditation.
There is an unequal payment of internship allowance for PA interns,as private and university trained PAs receives NSS allowance whiles others from MoH trained institutions receives internship allowance which is much higher than the NSS allowance-The president stated.
The president also spoke about the career progression of the profession and pleaded with the government to establish various specialty areas for the PA profession.

Hon.Dr.Nana Ayew Afriyie was also interviewed by various media, he assured PAs that,the parliamentary select committee on health have numerous plans for them because they play a very key role in Ghana’s quest to achieve SDG3.He congratulated the leadership of the association for their efforts in diverse ways in making Ghana achieve universal health coverage.

Speaking to Hello FM,OYEREPA FM, Metro FM,GTV,TV Africa and other media,Jacob Osei Yeboah(JOY) an independent presidential candidate indicated that the concerns of the trainees have been well noted and that the independent body will put in all efforts needed to get things problems resolved.
I will cancel MDC licensing exams organised for PAs when voted to power-Mr.Jacob added.
He also added that the current government should solve this problems as it can be a threat to the health of all Ghanains.

Kofi Akpaloo,presidential aspirant for Liberal Party of Ghana(LPG) pledged his support to the group and also applauded the leadership for fighting for the general interest of their members.

Mr.Francis Owusu-Akyaw an aspiring member of parliament for New Juaben Constituency who was also present at the opening ceremony commended PASAG members for the work they do, adding that the members provide a great percentage of health services of the people in Ghana.

Mr Akyaw rallied members of the Association to work their socks out to achieve the SDG goals on health before the year 2030.

This, he noted would be the best legacy they could leave with the people of Ghana when they are able to inculcate into the citizenry the idea of good eating and lifestyles including daily exercise of the body.

“This profession since 1969 when it was established has proven to be the backbone of Ghana’s health care system and I urge all of us to work to ensure we achieve the SDG goals on health where our people will live healthy lives including the daily exercise of their bodies”, Mr Akyaw rallied members.

Apart from the opening ceremony, other important events that transpired during the week celebration includes beauty pageant,symposiums, quiz competition and an award ceremony.
