Little publicity

The Ghana Football Association and Betpawa agreed to a three-year sponsorship agreement for the event.

It was decided that $1 million would be used annually to promote the league as part of the $6 million deal ($2 million every season).

But, the media coverage hasn’t been very noteworthy. Big games have hardly ever been promoted.

Only a small number of devoted league fans keep up with information such as which big match is coming up next, which side is leading the standings, who the league’s top performers are, etc.

Even though they are not curious, the material is not presented in a way that will grab their attention.

Persona Exodus

Player departure is one of the main issues and the most frequently cited reason for Ghana football’s downturn.

Fans rarely get to see their preferred players for very long. They can only use them for two seasons at most.

Due to insufficient pay, players frequently leave teams when the chance arises, depriving the league of stars whose names would otherwise be enough to lure fans to the stadium.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Fabio Gama, Kwame Opoku, Benjamin Afutu, Ibrahim Imoro, Diawisie Taylor, Benjamin Benard Boateng, Ibrahim Salifu, Dennis Korsah, Raddy Ovouka, Maxwell Abbey Quaye, Moro Salifu, and numerous others became stars in the league during the 2020–2021 season.

Just Ibrahim Salisu and Dennis Korsah remain among the aforementioned players who are still active in the League after two seasons.
