Deborah Adablah and banker Ernest Kwasi Nimako were embroiled in legal battles at the time of Adablah's conduct; Adablah had previously had her case against Nimako dismissed for sexual harassment. Lawyer Mohammed Atta, the Adablah's counsel, questioned the prosecution about when the execution order started. Detective Sergeant Ayitey elaborated, saying, "I didn't start the execution procedure. Instead, I was the night investigator on the specified date when Deborah S. Adablah was brought into custody by the Regional Counterterrorism Unit (CTU) for both assaulting and hindering police officers from carrying out orders." Counsel suggested that Ayitey submitted false documents. He refuted this claim by saying, "My lord, I tendered what I have or know about." He did, however, acknowledge that more information could only be provided by the police, who were really carrying out the directive.
