The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Brong Ahafo Region have expressed joy by the seal of approval giving to recently formed vigilante groups in the NDC by General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
They said Nketiah’s approval is a good step in the right direction as the party regroups to recapture political power in 2020.
In a statement to the media, they said: “The entire membership of the Brong Ahafo Youth Wing is hereby grateful to Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia for endorsing the militant Youth groups in the party that have sacrificed over the years providing security for the party.”
The group claims the formation of the’militant’ group was necessitated by the incessant attacks on its members by supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The NDC outdoored various vigilante groups like ‘The Hawks”, “The Dragons” and others during their regional elections last week.

The entire membership of the Brong Ahafo Youth Wing is hereby grateful to Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia for endorsing the militant Youth groups in the party that have sacrificed over the years providing security for the party.
We are overwhelm because formation and formalising the Youth groups in the Region is one of the possible agenda the B/A Youth Wing seeks to execute prior to the 2020 elections to provide security for the party.
Brong Ahafo Region is one of the peaceful Regions in Ghana but areas like Asunafo and Asutifi are full of Npp “terrorists”. They have been terrorising our members in that area for years now and all we can say now is enough is enough. We can’t take it anymore.
Last year alone there have been series of attacks on NDC members in Asunafo South. The Mp for Asunafo South, Hon. Eric Opoku was as well attacked with his properties looted and destroyed by these same hooligans. These attacks led to the death of some of our members. These are serious issues still in the bosom of the Ghana Police Service.
Recently, the Ghana Police Service were also attacked and the official vehicle of the Ghana Police Service was used for robbery by Npp thugs an incident which was confirmed by the District Police Commander of Asunafo South.
Just last week our Hardworking Youth Organizers in Asunafo South were attacked by these NPP thugs on their way from an outreach program.
The question the Brong Ahafo Youth Wing is asking is simple,
1.Why is Ghana Police Service afraid to arrest the perpetuators of those inhumane crimes against humanity?
2.Even if Ghana Police Service who are armed and backed by the laws of the land could be attacked and disarmed and their cars seized by these Npp thugs on a broad day, then it means all members in the NDC are not safe in the Region come 2019 to 2020 at a time the campaign is at its peak.
It is for these reason we the leadership of the Youth Wing and all our constituency Youth Organizers fully support the endorsement of the Youth groups by our General Secretary to give us internal protection in the region.
We wish to assure our party leadership that we will abide by the lay down rules governing the party’s security and will advice our Youth groups accordingly not to behave like the Npp Hooligans who have turned themselves into terrorist and also to assure the general public that the groups are just to provide internal security for the party.
The Youths of B/A are poised for power in 2020 and nothing will stop us from securing Victory for our party.
2020 is possible, it’s just a matter of time.
