A Tarkwa Circuit Court judge has sentenced a 24-year-old teacher to seven years in hard labor jail for defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old student in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.
Kingsley Acquah, the convicted party, entered a not guilty plea to the accusation; nevertheless, after a lengthy trial presided over by Hathia Ama Manu, the court declared him guilty.
Superintendant Juliana Essel-Dadzie, the prosecutor, informed the court that the complainant was the victim’s mother and a seamstress.
She added that the 15-year-old girl attended a private school that Acquah had previously taught at in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality. She added that the victim and her parents shared a residence with the offender.
As per the prosecutor’s statement, the victim was a junior high school (JHS) student in her last year who resided on the school campus with her peers to ensure that they were adequately prepared for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
She claimed that the prisoner took advantage of the circumstances, enticing the 15-year-old girl into his room, where they engaged in sexual activity.
