“It’s very important for us that we have a stable relationship with Spirit; over the last number of months, we’ve worked with them to support their performance.”

Since Spirit acquired Bombardier’s activities in 2019, a protracted period of uncertainty for the staff has ended, and the company is now based in Northern Ireland.

However, issues with Spirit’s US company have put the ownership of the Belfast operation back in doubt.

Spirit was first a spin-off from Boeing in 2005, and it is still an important supplier to the company, especially for the Boeing 737.

Its work for Boeing has experienced quality problems and delays in certain areas, which has made Boeing’s problems worse.
