Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has revealed his halftime team-talk was the “wake up” call that inspired them to victory over Guinea-Bissau in their final Group F game on Tuesday.
After an unconvincing performance in the first half, the Black Stars burst to life in the second half to put away a stubborn Guinea-Bissau side.
Jordan Ayew broke the deadlock few seconds after the restart with a delightful finish before Partey sealed the victory in the 72nd minute.
“The first half was not good enough so at half time I told them to wake up and we saw the urgency they started the second half with” Appiah told reporters after the match.
The result sees Ghana top Group F on goal difference ahead of Cameroon who played out barren draw with Benin other simultaneous kick-off in Ismailia.
