The sole rookie in Ghana’s 25-man roster to face Angola in the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers is Patrick Kpozo.
Ghana’s Accra is where Patrick Kpozo, a player for FC Sheriff Tiraspol in the Moldovan division, was born and reared.
The 25-year-old began his professional career with Inter Allies of Division 2 and made seven appearances before receiving a breakthrough transfer abroad to Swedish club AIK.
The athlete earned two appearances for the national team in 2015 after receiving a call-up to Ghana’s under-20 team, the Black Satellites, before moving abroad.
The left-back made 11 club appearances before spending the next two seasons on loan in Tromso.
The Ghanaian player left AIK after a disastrous stint there and joined Ostersunds FK, another team in the Swedish division. With Ostersunds, Kpozo was able to establish himself, participating in 48 games and scoring 3 goals.
Kpozo spent the five years between his five-year stay at Ostersunds on loan to IFK Lulea, where he managed to score six goals in 28 games.
Kpozo chose to join Moldova’s premier team, FC Moldova, after spending seven years in the Swedish division.
