In a video released last week, Nufialagah Mawufemor Kobla Nornyigbey—the man who represented the Nogokpo Traditional leaders in the contentious altercation with Archbishop Agyina—alleges that the chiefs were paid off by the National Peace Council to put the issue to rest.

Among other things, he made the serious accusation in an interview with the Mama Grace show on Gerom TV.

“Due to what I witnessed, I had to go live on Facebook to distance myself from the situation because I want to avoid being accused of accepting bribes by those who look up to me.”

“Yes, people did phone me to make proposals during the issue, and I had already been accused of accepting bribes. I turned down a $100,000 payment to end the matter out of consideration for the people involved. Nornyigbey said bluntly, “People have taken it and I have them to their conscience.

He expresses his disappointment in the traditional leaders of Nogokpo for selling their consciences for money in a segment of the interview that was posted to YouTube.

He disclosed, “Trust me, Nogokpo would have been a heaven where investors and a lot of people would have flocked with various opportunities the way we wanted to handle this Agyinasare-Nokogpo issue.”

He claims that during the height of the dispute, pastors, government figures, and traditional leaders tried to step in, but the people of Nogokpo refused to back down. But their traditional leaders trailed after them, bringing with them “envelopes” that ultimately led to their compromise.

He related how the paramount chief of the region later called the chief of Nogokpo, who had led the traditional chiefs in holding a news conference and giving Agyinasare a two-week deadline to appear before them, and fined him.

Togbui Adamah III, paramount chief and president of the Some Traditional Council, allegedly joined the idea at first but then distanced himself from the press conference they staged after it was compromised, according to Nornyigbey’s further allegations.

When the National Peace Council visited the region, he claimed that they had bought off the traditional leaders of Nogokpo on behalf of Agyinasare.
