Following his withdrawal from the NPP flagbearer election, Alan Kyerematen decided to become independent. According to reports, this decision was driven by difficulties he encountered at a Super Delegates Conference held by the party in August 2023.
Alan Kyerematen declared in his official statement, “Under the circumstances and given the context, I am honorably resigning from the New Patriotic Party to contest the high office of the presidency in 2024 as an independent presidential candidate.”
