A state burial is underway for the late major Maxwell Mahama who was killed by a mob at Denkyira Obuasi last week Monday. The funeral is taking place at the forecourt of the State House in Accra. Mourners are currently filing past the remains of the late soldier after which it will be transported to the military section Osu Cemetery for burial. The casket of the late major was closed for the filing past apparently due to the brutality meted out to him by the Denkyira Obuasi mob.
The funeral is being attended by the family of the late officer, top military and government official, friends and well-wishers of the bereaved family, ordinary Ghanaians and members of the media. Nigerian actor, Hanks Anuku, was one the people who arrived at the State House to pay his last respect to the fallen soldier.
