List of 50 foreign universities in Ghana that GTEC has not recognised.

All heads of tertiary institutions and members of the public have received a warning from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) not to interact with 50 foreign tertiary institutions that the Commission does not recognise because of violations of accreditation and quality assurance.

GTEC warned that these institutions have not fulfilled the requirements to operate or grant academic credentials recognised in Ghana in a statement released by the Director-General, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai.

The statement said, “We hope that in your dealings with them, you treat this caution with the seriousness that it deserves.”

The announcement comes after GTEC recently ordered people—including those with academic and political backgrounds—to stop using the title “Dr.” unless they could show that they received it from a recognised and accredited postsecondary institution.

GTEC has urged the public to verify the accreditation status of any institution before enrolling in any programme or using its certificates for academic or professional purposes.
