ShattaFest 2025: The evening that Shatta Wale demonstrated his dominance over the streets

ShattaFest, organised by Ghana’s dancehall powerhouse, Shatta Wale, at Independence Square last Saturday night, may go down as one of the wildest, most memorable beginnings to Ghana’s festive season—and this is not even the official start of December in Ghana.

In a way that only he could control, Shatta Wale transformed the birthday celebration into a massive street festival that attracted thousands of people from all over Accra and beyond.

The Street Crown crooner did not have to do much to get people to leave their houses and board any available vehicle in order to attend an all-night show and still wish it would go on forever.

That pull is Shatta Wale’s.

He has repeatedly demonstrated that the streets react when he calls.

The sea of fans waving, chanting, and grooving filled Independence Square from the late hours of Saturday until the early hours of Sunday.

Big names in the industry like Samini, Sarkodie, King Promise, Medikal, Wendy Shay, and Amerado took the stage, and the atmosphere was incredible.

Not only that, but Jupitar, Article Wan, Patapaa, Kelvynboy, JZyNO, and Kweku Flick also took the stage.

Without a little romantic moment, what would life be? Shatta Wale took advantage of the chance to give his partner, Maali, a tender kiss.

The ShattaFest coordination was excellent, and the planning effort was well worth it.

With Shatta Wale, you can have a free show and still have empty seats.

ShattaFest 2025 had an absolutely amazing turnout.

Shatta Wale, one of Ghana’s most recognisable brands, once again made it abundantly evident to corporate Ghana that it is worthwhile to invest in the arts.

His collaboration with MTN MoMo Ghana Ltd on the event undoubtedly paid off in real time.

There were moments that defined the night. Shatta Wale took a moment to publicly acknowledge Tinny as a pioneer in the field who helped many others.

After that, there were the thrilling moments when Samini and Sarkodie showed up. Sensing something greater than amusement, harmony, and maturity, the crowd erupted.

It was unbelievable to see these titans on the same stage after years of conflict and lyrical rivalry.

Then Shatta brought two well-known rivals, Peller and Big Jiggy, together to try to patch things up.

Naturally, there were some regrettable incidents that surfaced during the night, like reports of pepper spray, small-time thefts, and crowd suffocation incidents, as is the case with most large-scale outdoor events.
