The unfortunate death of Richard Ackom Quayson, the Deputy Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has occurred in a terrible turn of events.
The Commissioner’s representative, Henry Ashley, the Director of Human Resources and Administration, signed a notice announcing the news on March 22, 2024.
The notification states that, after a brief illness, Mr. Quayson passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2024.
“We inform staff members of the death of our Deputy Commissioner (APR), Richard Ackom Quayson, with a heavy heart,” the CHRAJ statement said. The statement conveyed the organization’s profound sorrow. It acknowledged the great loss his passing represents and emphasized his devotion and commitment to the organization.
In 1993, Richard Ackom Quayson joined the Commission as a senior legal official.
He was employed as a legal officer in the Office of the Ombudsman, which was CHRAJ’s predecessor organization, from 1987 to 1993 before starting at CHRAJ. Before being named Deputy Commissioner in August 2005, Mr. Quayson had an excellent career as a regional director for the Western and Central Regions.
