Police have no evidence; even Fennec Okyere knows I’m innocent – Bulldog

Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog, is convinced that the police have no evidence to prove its case that he murdered Fennec Okyere.

He maintains that contrary to reports, he never threatened to kill Fennec, late manager of hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese.

Fennec Okyere was killed at his Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road in Accra on Thursday, March 13, 2014 by unknown assailants. He died at age 31.

Bulldog, who the Police Criminal Investigative Department (CID) picked up on Thursday, April 10 as lead suspect in the murder of Fennec, was alleged to have threatened to kill Fennec.

The CID said Bulldog, who was then the manager of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, sent several “threatening messages” both verbal and text showing his intent to kill Fennec.

Three years after the unfortunate incident, he still maintains that he is innocent and there is no evidence to prove the contrary.

“They don’t have nothing on me. If I am not getting myself in trouble by saying that because the case is still in court…every month I’m in court,” Bulldog said in an interview on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Amanda Jissih.

He faulted the police for making “the public think that,” he had something to do with Fennec’s death.

Mr Hanson revealed that some industry persons, including Kiki Banson and Obour, had been questioned in connection with Fennec’s death and released and didn’t know why his had to be handled differently.

“When I was picked up, I knew I was just going to go and do my interview and come back. I asked, ‘Am I under arrest, do I need a lawyer?’ they said no. I got there and they started talking plenty saying industry people had come there, said I had threatened the guy and they have a text message. At a point, they said they had a witness. I wrote a long statement and they put me behind bars…” and was arraigned before court two days later, he narrated. Bulldog stressed that in spite of their differences, Fennec was like a brother to him. “We are like brothers, he comes home, my wife will cook [for us].”

He recounted that he introduced Fennec into the entertainment industry, “artiste management to be specific”, and he was his PA during 5Five’s ‘African Gurlz’ video shoot in 2011.

“As I speak with you here, Fennec is seated by my right in spirit because he knows that I have been accused wrongly and we are friends so wherever I am, he is there with me,” he added.

Asked if he knows who killed Fennec, he responded in the negative and stressed that he also interested in knowing who killed Kwaw Kese’s former manager because it is the only way he can be vindicated.
