NUGS WISHES ALL BECE CANDIDATES BEST OF LUCK.

The National Union of Ghana Students wishes to congratulate the 571,332 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates for your dedication, sacrifice and hard work throughout your period of basic education.

This country-wide examination is your first major academic exercise. We strongly believe in your ability to perform creditably in this test. Indeed, your teachers, parents and well-wishers have over the period prepared you adequately for the task ahead.

We urge you to properly conduct yourself in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the examination. We are confident you will make us all proud.

Populations in our basic schools are growing rapidly, as is evident from the statistics of the number of students writing the BECE year on year. This year registered an increase of 7,507 candidates over last year’s number of 509,824.

It is therefore imperative, that the relevant resources for the growing number of students especially at the basic level is readily available. All stakeholders especially the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service should be well aware of these dynamics and work to meet this need.

In addition, NUGS extends profound gratitude to the Akufo-Addo led administration for the numerous reforms in our educational sector. We commend the Government for the payment of BECE registration fees for all candidates in the last two years. We are hopeful this intervention is here to stay forever.

NUGS commends teachers, especially those in the rural and remote communities for the good job they are doing to help children to achieve their academic dreams.

We call on the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to go the extra mile to prevent any leakage of the examination papers. The Union will not countenance any form of cancellation of a leaked paper due to no fault of candidates.

NUGS wishes to entreat all supervisors and invigilators to ensure that the needed serene atmosphere is created at all times during the examinations to prevent fear and panic among candidates.

NUGS wishes you all candidates the best of results and God’s guidance throughout the examinations. Whatever the challenges may be, we urge candidates to give a good account of themselves in order to set the tone for their future academic pursuits.
