The Stars last won the competition in 1982 and are desperate to win the competition having come close in previous editions.
For Mr Agyemang, who is a former Asante Akyem North MP, this is the time the nation needs to offer her maximum support to the national team.
“We have tried to reach the Promised land (winning the trophy) in the last few editions. It has been a semi-final or better since Ghana 2008. When we win, victory is not only for the team but for the entire nation; that is why I would urge all and sundry to offer massive support ahead of our first game against Benin on Tuesday.
“As you know, the whole nation is anticipating a response from the team going into the competition. We are expecting them to make us proud. We are playing to win and I believe that would come to pass. Twenty-four teams are competing for the tournament; thus, it won’t be a stroll in the park. Let us pray for the team and offer our spiritual backing and I am confident we would come good”, he told ClassSports’ Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang.
The Black Stars play their opening game against Benin on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
