Mahama made a huge mistake by appointing a stammerer as Communications Minister – Bagbin

Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alban Sumaila Kingsford Bagbin has intensified his verbal assault on the erstwhile John Mahama Administration and its appointees.

In his latest barrage, Bagbin accused Mahama of making a very big mistake in appointing Dr. Omane Boamah, who is a stammerer, as the Minister of Communications.

He contends that such a decision aided their huge defeat at the 2016 general elections.

Speaking to delegates in the Volta Region, Mr. Bagbin said he believed although Dr. Omane Boamah is an intelligent young man, his appointment was misplaced.

“When Prof [Atta Mills] was in power, Haruna Iddrisu was our linguist in charge of communication, when my brother John [Mahama] came to power, he substituted him for Dr. Omane Boamah who is a natural stammerer”, he said.

“I learned from tradition that it is not the chief that speaks, it is the linguist and, so, when you are a leader, you must have a very good linguist”, he added.

Alban Bagbin, who is also the second Deputy Speaker in Parliament is contesting Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Professor Joshua Alabi, Sylvester Mensah, Goosie Tanoh amongst others to lead the NDC in 2020.

“So, even though you might have a good message, you will not succeed in marketing that message because somebody is there from the other side rattling and they are listening to him, so, we came down”, he claimed.

The NDC has slated 7 December 2018, for the election of its flagbearer for the 2020 presidential election.
