KOFI OWUSU FIRED AS PBC CEO FOR BAD PERFORMANCE

 

Mr Kofi Owusu Boateng who was appointed the Chief Executive Office of the Produce Buying company (PBC) on 21st July,2017 after the ruling New Patriotic Party won political power has been fired from office and has been replaced by Mr Richard Akuoko Adiyia the former Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano North Constituency in the Ashanti Region due to bad performance.

PBc limited originally exists as a licensed Buying company(LBC) which partakes in the internal marketing of cocoa as it’s core business among other auxiliary businesses to complement it’s revenue stream. PBC limited has over the years operated in an environment of stiff competition with other licensed Buying companies for cocoa from Farmers. The company has however remained the highest cocoa purchaser for COCOBOD among the other LBCs with a market share of about 31%. A company which was adjudged as the First on Ghana Club 100 Ranking in 2010.

Under his tenure of office as the CEO of the PBC, it’s was alleged that, there was downward spiral of the company’s fortunes as it’s could no longer purchase 15% of Ghanaian Cocoa.

He was faced with numerous Demostration from workers of the company against his Leadership style, during August 06,2019 demo, the workers described him as inexperienced and someone who lacks vision.

Produce buying Company limited is incorporated as a Public limited liability company under the company’s Code of 1963(Act 175). In May 2000, the company was listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange.

A verification on the PBC site on the internet confirms Hon Richard Akuoko Adiyia as the new CEO.
