I’m not surprised NDC lost – Alhaji Bature

Alhaji Bature, Managing Editor of the Alhajj Newspaper has said he is not least surprised that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) suffered a humiliating defeat in the 2016 General Elections.

According to him, he warned them when the signs were clear that they were losing but they rather tagged him a New Patriotic Party (NPP) member instead of heeding to his advice.

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Charlotte Osei on Friday 9th December declared the three-time Flagbearer of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo winner of the general elections after he polled 5,716, 026 votes to beat the incumbent President John Dramani Mahama who garnered 4,713,277 votes out of the 10,615,361 valid votes cast.

The results were votes from 271 out of 275 constituencies as declared by the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Charlotte Osei.

Aside losing the Presidential seat, the NDC lost most of its Parliamentary seats to the NPP of which the party was so confident on winning due to the massive infrastructural development seen during President Mahama’s reign.

Speaking on Adom TV on Tuesday, Alhaji Bature emphasized that it would have been a different story if the NDC heeded to his advice.

He believes the behavior of some top officials in the NDC made the party unattractive to many Ghanaians, a situation he says contributed to the loss of the party.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Bature is of the view that Ghanaians made a mistake by voting President Mahama out because he is the best President Ghana has ever had in terms of Infrastructural.

He counseled the NDC to rejuvenate and bounce back stronger in the next elections which Is in the year 2020.
