Hamid begged me to join NDC – Fifi Kwetey

The spokesperson of Nana Akufo-Addo, the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Mustapha Hamid in 2002 attempted leaving the NPP for the National Democratic (NDC), the Minister of Transport, Fifi Kwetey has claimed.

According to him, Hamid approached him and one Bismark Agbemenya to enquire how to join the NDC. Also, he stated Hamid requested a meeting with Obed Asamoah to facilitate his defection from the NPP to the NDC.

Mr. Kwetey disclosed this on Wednesday at a press conference aimed at setting the records straight and further reiterated it on Starr Today on Starr 103.5 FM.

“It’s easy in politics to say all it’s just a lie — especially when you’re dealing with some of our friends in the NPP… even when you catch them and their voices on tape they’ll still deny. It’s just normal,” he told Bernard Nasara Saibu, host of Starr Today.

“Mustapha cannot look me in the eyeball and deny. He knows in his heart of heart and if he truly fears Allah and fears the Holy Quran, there is no way he will be able to swear on that sacred book and lie,” he added.

The Transport Minister’s disclosure comes a day after Hamid addressed a press conference Tuesday, 29 November where he accused the presidential nominee of the NDC, President John Mahama of bribery.

He said Mahama and his sibling tried inducing the NPP’s Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu with two SUVs, GHS3.3million, and GHS500.000 in October this year to resign from the party and launch a ballistic attacks on the Akufo-Addo branding him as anti-northerners.
