A military cemetery to be at Burma Camp, the headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghanaian Ministry of Defence, will reportedly cost the Government of Ghana about $6million. Get more news on current issues in Ghana here on YEN.com.gh The Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul has ordered an investigation into the cost of the cemetery.
The $6million to be paid for the project, according to the minister of state, is “simply outrageous”. He hopes that the investigation he had ordered would lead to a possible “review” of the cost of the cemetery.
According to media reports, the new cemetery is being built to relieve pressure on the Osu Military Cemetery which is reportedly running out of burial space. “I think the cost is too much. It is $6 million. It is outrageous and I will look critically into it. I have already asked them to start an immediate investigation into it. At least we can save something to put into the accommodation for our troops.” The Nana Addo-led administration has also committed to improving upon the residency of military men in Ghana.
The Osu Military Cemetery Government released GHS23 million to facilitate the completion of some Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) residential facilities for personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces. The Osu Military Cemetery
