Ghana And Austria Sign Two Agreements

 

 

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo held bilateral talks with the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Mr. Karl Nehammar at the Jubilee House on 26th April, 2023.

During the discussions, President Akufo-Addo expressed Ghana’s interest to deepen relations with Austria in areas of mutual interest such as Food and Beverage Processing, SME Development, Exports, Development of Industrial Parks and Special Economic Zones, and the Automotive Industry among others.

In addition to the aforementioned areas, H.E. Mr. Nehammar also indicated the readiness of Austria to enhance bilateral cooperation with Ghana in the area of security.

Further discussions were centered on key issues relating to the economies of the two countries.

The bilateral discussions ended with the signing of two (2) agreements.

These included the Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) on Political and Economic Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana and the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria which was signed by Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, and Amb. Peter Launsky-Tieffentha, Secretary General of the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of Austria.

The other was an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Ghana and the Government of the Federal Republic of Austria on Defence Cooperation which was initialed by Hon. Dominic Nitiwul (the Minister for Defence) for Ghana and Amb. Peter Launsky- Tieffentha for Austria.
