The Malapropos of Addai-Nimoh

Francis Addai-NImoh

Francis Addai-Nimoh, like him or not, deserves a more influential position in the President Akufo-Addo government than being made nothing under an administration that has people superintending over ministries the know next to nothing about.

Addai-Nimoh combines such sheer brilliance, energy and uncommon loyalty to the New Patriotic Party course that is unmatched by any person other than President Akufo-Addo’s kinsmen themselves.

To the plain annoyance of some people and unknown to many, Addai-Nimoh used his personal resources of time, money, professional acumen and accumulated goodwill to campaign ceaselessly for the election of President Nana Addo.

As a failed flagbearer aspirant, Addai-Nimoh gave little attention to his highly successful engineering practice and allowed his sprawling Accra office to become a Mecca to merchants of goodwill and political patronage in the build up to the 2016 General Elections.

Addai-Nimoh, in the media advanced such fiery arguments in support of Nana Addo to the chagrin of many engineers, as NDC groaned in the lack of a fitting personality to match his artistry in the campaign war.

Thus, Ghanaians watched Addai-Nimoh, during the campaigns, in bewilderment while quite a majority admired him and were truly impressed by his gusto and commitment to the person of President Akufo-Addo.

President Akufo-Addo obviously had better choices than the likes of Hawa Koomson, Tina Mensah, Kwesi Amoako Atta, Kofi Ada, Ursula Owusu and the rest of them.

These people don’t have the requisite pedigree for their responsibilities. They have a record of failure and have exhibited suspicious conduct in the past.

People like  Addai-Nimoh, Dr. Okoe Boye,  Mark Asibey-Yeboah, Afenyo Markins, Dr. Twum-Nuamah, and their likes, who are fresh with ideas, and possess a brilliant history of excellence in their callings, are the ones who resonate some measure of hope for the government of President Akufo-Addo which aims to take Ghanaians to the next stage of progress.

Unfortunately, it is this progressive group that President Akufo-Addo has largely decided to make less influential by ignoring them.

The latter group above, are a misnomer in the portfolios that President Akufo-Addo has assigned to them. Just take another look at them and their portfolios. I dare say that President Akufo-Addo may perform worse by the assignment he has given to these set of men. See them!

On Addai-Nimoh, nothing can be more unfair to a man and a disservice to his admirers, the people of Ashanti, particularly the Ashanti-Mampong people-his kinsmen, probably most of the people of the then Brong Ahafo, Volta, Western and Ghanaians  at large who never imagined that a bright mind and fine personality like Addai-Nimoh will be reduced to nothing.

Has Nana Addo resolved to make Addai-Nimoh useless? Has he decided to most probably teach him a lesson on the supremacy of politics over principles? What a waste!

The malapropos of Addai-Nimoh by this arrangement is in order to thoroughly frustrate him and make him bereft of political clout and necessary influence that he would have used to cause any positive and meaningful impact in a government that he fought so hard to defend and put in place.

In Ghana, and particularly in the NPP, we seem to demonstrate unconcern when brilliance, integrity and competence are been frustrate but rather embrace mediocrity.

I, therefore, predict that if President Addo does not quickly carry out a cabinet reshuffle within a period of one month and put people in a positions of greater influence to ensure governance with positive impact, I can guarantee that the worse will happen to this government.

The man cannot afford to be useless. It is just my thinking and I sincerely hope I am wrong.

While I bemoan the malapropos of Addai-Nimoh. Many Ghanaians wail and wonder over the misplacement of Dan Botwe. Let another, therefore, bespeak on that matter.

Are these not the signs of a coming failure of President Akufo-Addo’s tenure?

Time will prove me right or wrong.
