A man identified as Kwaku Akese, 46, has hacked his wife, Ama
Nyarkoa, with a machete after a misunderstanding ensued between them.
The incident occurred Sunday at Akyem Akroso near Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region.
The right hand of the woman is almost chopped off after the suspect
inflicted two deep cuts at the upper and lower part of the hand. She
also suffered deep cutlass wound on her back, Mouth, neck and buttocks.
The woman identified as Ama Nyarkoa, 32, is currently battling for
her life at the Asamankese Government Hospital having been referred from
the Oda Government Hospital.
The suspected husband has since absconded.
According to the mother to the Victim, the misunderstanding between
the couple started on Saturday after the woman defied orders of the
husband not to attend a wedding ceremony.
The couple have six children.
Information gathered from the Asamankese Hospital indicates that the
victim has been referred to the Regional Hospital in Koforidua for
intensive care, however, the family is struggling to foot the medical
bills and the Ghc400 ambulance cost.
