Ebony’s funeral may be postponed – Father hints

Ebony’s funeral is facing a possible postponement. -The family is grappling with challenges over the venue of Independence Square. -The father, Nana Opoku Kwarteng disclosed this in a radio on Saturday. The funeral of the Dancehall diva, Ebony Reigns, may not come off as announced, her father, Nana Opoku Kwarteng, has hinted. Ebony had originally been scheduled to be buried on March 17, 2018 with her funeral at the Black Stars (Independence) Square. Mr. Kwarteng has , however, disclosed that Ebony’s funeral may either be postponed or see a change in venue.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review on Saturday, the father of Ebony revealed that the family was having challenges with the venue as the Independence Square had been booked by others on the same day. “The venue is the challenge. We earlier had the indication that we could hold it there but as it stands, it’s a little dicey. The Canadian High Commission has an event at the Forecourt of the State House on the very day. It had been booked way back. The Black Star Square had also been booked by Aglow International,” YEN.com.gh herd him state. Ebony died in an accident on February 8, 2018, with two others, Franky Kuri and Francis Atsu Vondee, on the Sunyani-Kumasi Highway while returning from Sunyani after visiting her mother.
At the one week observance of the death of the artiste, March 17 was announced as the burial day with a venue to be announced later. Mr. Kwarteng revealed last Wednesday that the family had settled on the Independence Square. But according to Mr Kwarteng, though he made the announcement of the venue, he may not have crosschecked very well to know about the bookings. Notwithstanding, he urged the public to exercise patience as they (public) would be updated after a meeting with the Chief of Staff, Monday.
I announced the venue but maybe my homework was not well done or something. Let’s hold on. We are meeting the Chief of Staff on Monday to finalize issues. After that, we will brief the country about the development,” he noted. Meanwhile, Franky Kuri has been laid to rest after a burial service at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Kwashieman in Accra, Saturday, March 3.
