Don't Sign The Finance Ministry's Anti-gay Measure Nana Addo

President Akufo-Addo has been urged by the Ministry of Finance not to sign the newly enacted anti-LGBTQ+ Bill into law. The Ministry claims that if the bill is passed into law, it will negatively impact the nation's ability to receive financial assistance from foreign institutions, such as the Bretton Woods Institutions. The statement emphasized worries that if the bill is passed into law, the anticipated $300 million in funding from the First Ghana Resilient Recovery Development Policy Operation (Budget Support), which is presently pending parliamentary approval, might not be distributed. Furthermore, the continuing discussions regarding the $300 million Second Ghana Resilient Recovery Development Policy Operation (Budget Support) may come to an end. The Ministry emphasized that these possible outcomes might cause a large loss of funds, which would leave a financing shortfall in the budget for 2024.
